Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce member, Le Mark Group Ltd, are this week collecting donations for the Polish Saturday School in Huntingdon to send to the borders of Ukraine.
They’re calling for donations of:
- Batteries / Flashlights / Candles
- Diapers / Pads / Wet Wipes
- Dry Sanitary Products including Soap, Toothpaste and Toothbrushes
- Over the Counter Painkillers with time before expiration date
- Blankets / Sleeping Bags
- Powerbanks.
Please do not bring food donations as these cannot be accepted due to the risks of expiration before reaching the borders of Ukraine.
If you can help by donating any of these items, please take them along to the collection at Le Mark where Head of Export, Karolina Wlodarcyk, is co-ordinating.
Please ensure all donations have been delivered by 5.00pm on Friday 5 March to Le Mark Group, 1 Houghton Hill Industries, Sawtry Way, Huntingdon PE28 2DH.
Alternatively donations can be taken directly to the schools’ fundraising event at the Polish Saturday School, St Johns Primary School, Sallowbush Road, Huntingdon, PE29 7LA on Saturday 5 March 2022 between 8.00am-12.00pm.
Stuart Gibbons, Managing Director at Le Mark Group Ltd, said: “The school is run by dedicated volunteers who are working so hard to get this local effort rolling.”
Karolina adds: “Your donations will help give basic comfort to all those who had to flee their homes. There are over 200,000 refugees in Poland and other European countries and the numbers are growing. There are still families in Ukraine who are seeking refuge and are fighting for democracy.
“Ukraine’s heroism gives us all hope and confidence that together, we will all stand up to terrorism and build a better world.”
If you’d like to support these efforts in another way, then please do consider sending donations via the British Red Cross or via Unicef. |
