𝗪𝗵𝘆? 50% of young people the surveyed in the region say they don’t even know about opportunities within 10 miles of their home. Young people from lower-income backgrounds are 27% less likely to access work experience than their more advantaged peers. 64% of young people in miss out on vital work experience. Young people who have at least four meaningful employer encounters are 86% less likely to become NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). We understand offering work experience can feel complicated and we know your positive intentions are there… 81% of employers want to offer opportunities, many say they struggle with how to do it easily. 🚉 Exciting News for Peterborough! 🚉 The UK Government has approved the £65 million Station Quarter regeneration project, marking a significant milestone for Peterborough. This transformative initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration between Peterborough City Council, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, Network Rail, and LNER. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: ✅ Government Approval - The Full Business Case has been greenlit, unlocking £47.8 million in Levelling Up funding. 🏗️ Construction Timeline - Work is set to commence in late autumn, starting with the 'City Link' phase to enhance connectivity between the station and Cowgate. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀: 🚉 A new western entrance and multi-storey car park, creating a double-sided station. 🛠️ Refurbishment of the existing eastern station building. 🌳 Development of new public spaces, improved street design, and green areas to promote biodiversity. 🚴 Enhanced pedestrian and cyclist routes, replacing outdated underpasses with safer, more welcoming pathways. 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: 🏡 The project is expected to create up to 4,000 jobs and 700 new homes, serving as a catalyst for further investment and development in the region.
